Finding work in Canada

For those of us lucky enough to be employed consistently, we never have to worry about finding a job that can help pay the bills. Fortunately enough, being in Canada avails you with a lot of opportunities to find a career or place of work that can help you. Finding these wonderful places can prove to be a bit of a challenge if you aren’t sure where to go, where to look, and where to be for part time or full time employment.

Service Canada

The government of Canada is willing to lend a helping hand to anyone willing to look. Their government websites offer a helping hand. Jobbank.gc.ca is a website set up to help people find work. They have a variety of search options, from full time career employment, to part time and student jobs. The positions posted on the website range in requirements, compensation, and locales, but if you are in need, than this is a great place to start looking.

Resumes

In addition to job postings, there are also helpful things like their resume builder. For those who are not sure they have the right type of resume to catch the eye of would be employers, Service Canada provides helpful tips and guides you to the best resume that you can have. It’s worth a try even if you have been getting responses on your job applications too!

Craigslist

Although it is often used to buy and sell various items, public use websites allow for employers to place advertisements for a variety of jobs and employment opportunities. There are a lot of different types of jobs available on such websites. The fact that they are posted daily, and can allow for immediate contact allows would be employees to find a possible career or part time job at a much easier and more accessible pace than constantly hitting the pavement in search of work. Bear in mind that not all of these job postings are legitimate, and if something seems to good to be true, chances are that it is. Be careful with what you are willing to give people in terms of information, but use this as a tool to get an idea of what is available out there.

Wherever you look, whatever you are looking for, there is always a way to find a job. Be it a career or merely a part time gig, there are ways to get your foot in the door, or place yourself in a better financial situation. All it takes is the right tools, the right attitude, and a little point in the right direction.
